LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – City of Lincoln officials said Saturday that crews are applying granular salt pre-wet with brine to bridges, overpasses and trouble spots as snow falls.

Streets range from wet to partially snow-covered, according to the city.

The pavement is warming up, preventing accumulation in many areas.

But elevated roadways are becoming completely snow-covered and slick, the city said.

Drivers should watch for slick spots, especially on untreated surfaces, officials said.

City officials plan to provide an update at 8 p.m.

The National Weather Service has placed Lincoln in a hazardous weather outlook.

The outlook applies to eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.

Among the counties included in the advisory are plus Knox, Cedar, Antelope, Boone, Colfax, Butler, Seward, Lancaster, Saline, Jefferson, Gage, Johnson, Nemaha, Pawnee and Richardson.
