City workers help rescue hawk suffering from broken wing at Lincoln park

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A hawk that was suffering from a broken wing was recently rescued by two city workers.
In a Facebook post Monday, the Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department said two members of its wastewater team – Kris Williams and Dave Ohmberger – rescued the hawk on July 19.
Williams and Ohmberger were working at Roberts Park near 56th and Sumner streets when they spotted the hawk.
“Acting quickly, they coordinated with a local raptor rescue, working to ensure the bird receives the specialized care it needs,” city officials said in the Facebook post.
LTU said it takes pride in its employees who “go above and beyond their duties.”
“Kris and Dave’s compassion exemplifies our commitment to nature’s wonders and reminds us of the profound impact we can make when we unite for a common cause,” officials said.
