Clear skies tonight lead to cold morning; No April Fools joke

Clear skies, light winds, and high pressure moving overhead will set up southeast Nebraska for a cold Thursday morning.  Temperatures will drop to the lower 20°s in most areas, and a few of the colder spots could drop to the upper teens.  Yes, upper teens.  No, this is not an April Fool’s joke!

Dma Tonight Low

This will likely be the coldest start to April in three years.  It dropped to the teens on April 1 in 2018.  The high that day in Lincoln was only 33°.  If you don’t like cold weather, you’re in luck.  Wait a few hours Thursday morning and it will feel much nicer.

Mainly sunny skies should prevail for the next three to four days.  Combine that with southerly winds aloft, and we are going to have a nice warm-up for the end of the work week and through the holiday weekend.  So much so, Easter Sunday will feel more like the second week of June.

TONIGHT:  Mostly clear skies and cold.  Temperatures drop to the upper teens to lower 20°s.

THURSDAY:  Sunny skies and warmer.  Highs will be in the upper 50°s to near 60°.

FRIDAY:  Sunny, breezy, and much warmer.  Temperatures will top out in the lower to middle 70°s.

SATURDAY:  Mainly sunny and warmer.  High temperatures will climb to the middle to upper 70°s.
