Click It or Ticket: Lincoln Police, troopers cite more than 100 for seat belt violations
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police and the Nebraska State Patrol have released their 2022 Click it or Ticket campaign results.
The nationwide enforcement effort began on May 23 and ended on Sunday.
Officers and troopers focused on drivers and passengers who were not buckling their seat belts.
Police say the goal of the campaign is to increase the use of seat belts, which will reduce the likelihood of injury in a crash.
During the campaign, police issued citations to 57 drivers for seat belt violations. They also issued one citation for a child restraint violation.
The patrol issued 47 citations for seat belt or child safety restraint violations. Troopers also arrested 40 drivers on suspicion of driving under the influence.
They capped off the campaign with a busy weekend, arresting 12 on suspicion of driving under the influence.
