Winter weather alerts are in place for northeast Nebraska, set to go into effect Friday evening. A Winter Weather Advisory will be in place for far northeast Nebraska, travel impacts are expected in any of the purple counties above.
Snow showers likely in northern Nebraska on Friday, with heavier showers reaching northeast Nebraska Friday evening and Saturday morning. Above is the latest run of StormCast, which shows a chance for Lincoln to see snow early Saturday afternoon.
Forecast snow totals will be light for the majority of the state, but we are looking at a very quick transition from next to no snow, to accumulations totaling between 2-4″.
Forecast:
Bundle up as you head out the door with temperatures below freezing for our morning commute in southeast Nebraska. Wind chills are expected in the teens and 20s to start our Friday.
Afternoon temperatures in Lincoln will be limited to the lower 30s under mostly cloudy skies.
High temperatures on Friday will be a mixed bag of 30s in southeast Nebraska.
Across the state, highs range from the lower 20s to the middle 40s.
A frigid evening ahead for many of us, with overnight lows in the teens under mostly cloudy skies.
Temperatures continue to drop as we head toward the weekend, with overnight lows Saturday evening close to zero! Light snow showers on Saturday looks to be our best chance at precipitation for the week ahead. Warmer weather is on the way next week, with highs in the upper 40s and lower-to-middle 50s.
