Cocaine-filled cheese sniffed out by officers inspecting a truck from Mexico
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Officers cut the cheese to find nearly 18 pounds of cocaine concealed within several wheels, according to authorities.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection says this happened in Presidio, Texas back on July 20, when a pickup truck arrived from Mexico.
A 22-year-old U.S. citizen was then arrested and turned over to Homeland Security, according to officials.
CBP Presidio Port Director Daniel Mercado said, “Smugglers will sometimes try to conceal contraband in items that appear innocent to deflect suspicion.”
Another report released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection earlier this month said seizures of cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, and marijuana increased 7% in June.
