Cold front passes; Brings cooler, less humid air to southeast Nebraska

A cold front is passing through southeast Nebraska Monday morning.  Showers and a few embedded thunderstorms have developed overnight along and behind the front.

Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will remain possible through the rest of the morning.  Rain chances drop to zero between Noon and 1 p.m.  As the chance for rain drops, the cloud cover over southeast Nebraska will quickly erode during the early afternoon.  Expect for skies to become sunny by mid to late afternoon.

Temperatures will be a notch or two cooler than Sunday.  Highs are expected to be in the middle 80°s.  Winds will gust to 25 mph out of the north this afternoon.

Humidity will be on the decrease later this afternoon and evening.  I think you will really notice the drop late tonight and early Tuesday morning.  It will be a very comfortable start to the day as temperatures will drop to the upper 50°s to lower 60°s.

LOOK UP

Clear skies overnight will provide an excellent opportunity to see the International Space Station in the skies over southeast Nebraska Tuesday morning.

Iss Sightning

You’ll need to be an early riser for the sighting opportunity.  The ISS will be visible for seven minutes beginning at 4:57 a.m. Tuesday (time specific for Lincoln).  It will enter from the northwest and exit to the east-southeast.  Look for a solid white dot moving at a constant speed across the sky.

A seven minute sighting is not very common, so if you are up at the time, be sure to go outside and look up!
