Hour By Hour Dew Point Meteogram

A fantastic start to Friday as temperatures dropped in to the 50°s.  Lincoln dropped to 54° making this the coolest temperature in the capital city since June 27.  This is also the coolest temperature for July 29 in 8 years!

High level clouds will stream over southeast Nebraska throughout the day providing filtered sunshine.  Temperatures will remain 5° to 8° below normal topping out in the lower 80°s.

Skies will clear Friday night and Saturday morning.  With relatively drier air and a light wind temperatures will drop in to the upper 50°s to around 60°.  It will be another night you can turn off the air conditioner and open up the windows.

One of the reasons it was so comfortable Friday morning is because of the dew point temperature.  The dew point temperature is the measure of the moisture in the air.  Dew points below 60° keeps the humidity comfortable.  When the dew point reaches the 60°s it starts to feel uncomfortable.  Friday morning the dew point was in the 50°s.

Dew point temperatures should remain in the 50°s today, allowing it to feel very comfortable, especially by late July standards.  The dew point averages 65° in Lincoln during the month.

This should make the day feel more like a late May or early September day.

Temperatures will warm through the weekend – reaching the middle 80°s Saturday and the upper 80°s Sunday.  As the calendar flips to August Monday heat will crank up.  Highs jump to the 90°s starting the work week, eventually reaching the upper 90°s to around 100° by mid/late week.
