Comfortable weather lingers into Monday

While last week featured extreme heat, temperatures remain closer to normal for much of this week. We expect high temperatures in the middle-80s on Monday, and there may be a few spots flirting with the upper-80s.

Monday Forecast

There will be a weak disturbance in the vicinity. As a result, we may see some spotty or widely scattered showers/storms on Monday. The latest guidance suggests perhaps a greater coverage of showers to the west of Lincoln with more spotty rain in the Lincoln area. Aside from that chance, we’ll otherwise be dry with a mixture of clouds and sun.

SMOKE & HEAT EVENTUALLY RETURN

Although high temperatures in the 80s appear to stick around through midweek, there is a fly in the ointment. Wildfire smoke will once again become an issue starting on Tuesday. The smoke will be close to ground level, which could cause some air quality concerns. The upper-air pattern may allow the smoke to linger for an extra day or two.

Stormcast Near Surface Smoke Concentrations

Long-term data is suggesting that things will heat up as we head into Labor Day weekend. For now, we’re placing highs in the upper-90s to near 100° over the weekend and into next week.
