Community Action unveils $3.5 million renovation of Lincoln Head Start facility
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Community Action, a local nonprofit, cut the ribbon Monday on a $3.5 million renovation of its early childhood education building.
The building at 18th and K streets was dedicated as the Bansal Family Home for Head Start.
This renovation included 19 classrooms for 197 kids ages 5 and under, as well as play areas, community gathering spaces and offices for staff.
The Bansal Family Home is free of cost. The neighborhood it’s in has a 58% poverty rate.
Sena. Deb Fischer and Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird spoke at the event to endorse the work being done.
