Community Conversation in Lincoln tackles the vaping debate

The Community Health Endowment and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department hosted a community conversation on vaping Tuesday afternoon.
Around 40 deaths across the nation have occurred due to a mysterious lung disease linked to the use of electronic cigarettes.
Panelists spoke of what vaping looks like in Lincoln, how it affects families, and what community members can do to help.
One teenager spoke about the symptoms he experienced while vaping.
Some of these symptoms included losing his appetite and feeling pressure in his head.
“I’d feel it in my chest. My chest would hurt.” Draven Long, a former user of electronic cigarettes said. “I’m an athlete. I’ve played sports my whole life and never had that problem. No issues, no asthma, nothing.”
This community conversation was the sixth in its series. The next conversation titled “Five Lessons Learned from a Career in Health Care” will be held with Kim Russel, President and CEO of Bryan Health.
