Computer, security cameras stolen from Nebraska Republican Party office, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Police are investigating a burglary at the Nebraska Republican Party office near 16th and N Streets.

The burglary was reported around 12:34 p.m. on Monday.  A party volunteer told officers she was at the building to meet with a locksmith.

After entering the building, she noticed the office was in disarray.  An office computer and the security cameras were reported stolen, police say.

They estimate the total loss at around $1,000.  An investigation is ongoing to identify if anything else was stolen.

Police say that there were no forced signs of entry.

Over the weekend, the Nebraska Republican Party faced many changes at its state convention in Kearney, including the replacement of Chairman Dan Welch and Executive Director Taylor Gage.

Eric Underwood, who will now serve as the party’s chairman, spoke at the Nebraska Republican Party office on Thursday.
