Construction worker dies after falling from platform

A construction worker has died after officials say he fell off an elevated platform. 

Officials say the incident took place Wednesday morning at the Andover Point Apartments construction site in Omaha. 

The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office says the man, Jerome Charvat, 60, was working on an elevated platform when he fell 20-30 feet to the ground. 

Officials say it’s unclear why Charvat fell.

Charvat was life-flighted to Bergen Mercy Hospital in critical condition.

Officials say Charvat later died from his injuries. 

Investigators are on the scene, and OSHA has been notified.
