Cooking fire causes $160,000 in damage at Lincoln town house

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A fire at a Lincoln town house Friday evening caused about $160,000 in damage, officials say.

The fire was reported about 6:30 p.m. near 48th and Superior streets.

It started on a stove while someone was cooking, according to Lincoln Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Aaron Pospisil.

Firefighters put out the flames in five minutes, LFR said.

No one was injured, Pospisil said, but the damage is bad enough that the unit is uninhabitable.

The fire didn’t spread to the neighboring town houses.
