Cooler again Monday; springing up in time for spring
It’s been a while since we’ve seen temperatures this cold in the morning on a weekday. The last time temperatures dropped into the teens was on a weekend (March 9-10th), but the last time we saw temperatures drop this much during the week was February 28th.
As we’re waiting on the sun to come up, temperatures will be around the upper teens with single-digit wind chills. Winds will be out of the northwest through much of the morning and afternoon around 10-20 mph.
The “feels-like” temperatures will improve into the afternoon but we’re still counting on another cooler day with the warmest hour feeling like the lower 40s.
Actual highs will be closer to the upper 40s, below the average high for March 18th of 55°. High pressure will continue to not only dominate over Nebraska, but much of the region to keep sunny conditions for the beginning of the week.
However, temperatures will improve by a lot going into Tuesday. For spring equinox, temperatures will jump by about 20 degrees into the upper 60s for the warmest day of the week to welcome the new season.
After that, precipitation chances slowly increase. We’re looking into a more active pattern developing over the weekend and into the following week, but there are not many details to share at this time with a lot of uncertainty about where potential rain/snow sets up.
