Cooler temperatures continue Sunday

Eastern Nebraska finally saw some rain on Saturday, with towns just west of Lincoln receiving over an inch of rain. The Lincoln airport recorded 0.80″ of rain through the afternoon hours on Saturday. The system will quickly move east by the evening hours, taking most of the cloud cover with it.

With clouds clearing Saturday evening into the overnight hours Sunday, temperatures are going to cool down into the 40s. This will be one of the colder nights going forward, almost 10 degrees cooler than our normal lows at this time of the year.

The overnight low temperatures will allow much of the area to stay in the middle to upper 70s on Sunday, the start of a dry period in the forecast. With sunny skies, winds will calm and stay out of the north, keeping the high temperatures also cooler than normal. Overall, Sunday will be a beautiful day for activities.

The cooler air is not here to stay, however, with summer-like temperatures emerging by early next week. We could see temperatures back into the 90s again after highs almost 30 degrees cooler this past weekend. With several mostly sunny days to come, more rain chances are in store by the end of next week as another system moves through. This does not look to impact us temperature-wise nearly as much as our last cold front.
