Cooler through the upcoming week
Thunderstorms to our south Saturday night produced 0.5″ if not more in some lucky spots. Many of us along I-80 were not so lucky.
But by Sunday afternoon through off and on rain showers, the Lincoln airport picked up about 0.10″ in a short burst of rain and wind (rainfall totals below through Sunday morning).
Speaking of wind, we’ve been much cooler with northwesterly winds. Winds have been gusting up to 40 mph, and not associated with thunderstorms this time! It’s been a while since we’ve been able to talk winds like this.
Through the rest of the weekend, we’ll be overcast as chances to see more showers here and there taper off. Winds will also back down heading into Monday and stay that way.
Monday will be another cooler, mild day with temperatures in the lower 60s in the morning. Winds will remain out of the northwest, but much calmer than Sunday. Conditions will remain partly sunny with more breaks for sun to start the week.
AN EARLY GLIMPSE
Most of the storms that Nebraska could see on Monday will remain in far SW Nebraska. It’s Tuesday that we are looking at the next chance for storms, a few of them strong to severe. As of Sunday afternoon, the Storm Prediction Center has a Slight (Level 2 of 5) risk for these storms, especially later Tuesday night.
Other than that, much cooler especially through the first half of this next week.
