Cooler with clouds; winter weather in southwest Nebraska Wednesday
Through the first five days of November, the amount of rain we’ve seen in Lincoln has been more than September and October combined.
Because of that recent rain, some very dense fog has been observed east of Lincoln toward the Missouri River. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for those that could see visibilities as low as a quarter mile through 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Rain won’t be in the forecast for a couple of days now looking ahead, but mostly cloudy conditions will prevail. Rain chances will increase late Friday and into Saturday.
Meanwhile, winter is cutting into the picture out west.
A Winter Weather Advisory has expanded to include some counties in southwest Nebraska through 11 p.m. MST Wednesday night. Those counties in purple below could see up to 6″ of snow, with the most snow possible toward Dundy County in Nebraska.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for eastern Nebraska through early Thursday for heavy snow that could pile up to more than a foot.
Snow could be ongoing for some – especially in southwest Nebraska – for most of Wednesday, ending toward late Wednesday night. Most of eastern Nebraska will see added cloud cover Wednesday but remain dry.
Recent models have increased some of the snow potential a little farther north into southwest Nebraska, with perhaps up to 2″ toward Ogallala. Below is a look at potential snow accumulation from 5 a.m. Wednesday through early Thursday morning.
The most snow is expected to accumulate through far southwest Nebraska toward Dundy County. Beware of slicker road conditions with winter weather throughout late Wednesday into early Thursday before this round wraps up.
