Cooler yet with rain chances by late morning, early afternoon Thursday
Another couple waves will give us decent chances at rain Thursday and Friday. The timing of this rain on Thursday will limit our heating, keeping temperatures from warming past the lower 70s.
Showers and weaker thunderstorms (very low chances at anything severe) will pass through the area and move northeast during the late morning and early afternoon hours. The heating of the day will intensify these storms a bit more as they move toward Omaha and across the border into Iowa/Missouri.
Most of the rain that will fall today should come between about noon and 5 p.m. Thursday evening.
As this system continues to churn over the region, we’ll have another chance at some storms moving in by Friday afternoon and evening.
This next wave looks to develop over central and mainly southeast Nebraska around I-80, then pushes southeast Friday night into Saturday morning.
The early chance for any rain by game day should clear out in time for our Big Ten season opener against Michigan. Kickoff at 2:30 p.m. Saturday should be met with partly sunny conditions and temperatures hovering in the upper 70s.
We’ll warm a bit more Sunday with the chance for isolated storms.
The temperature outlook for end of the month up to October 1st has the Midwest in a good spot to see above average temperatures.
Though next week, we’re looking to maybe stay a bit cooler as a cut-off low meanders slowly. The positioning of that system will greatly affect any rain chances early next week and temperatures throughout the week.
