Coolest start to November in 15 years; Shorts weather around the corner

It was a chilly day in southeast Nebraska.  Temperatures topped out in the low 40°s in the Tri Cities and 49° in Lincoln Tuesday.  That was after a morning that started with temperatures as low as 19° in Ord and 24° in Lincoln.  It was the coldest temperature the state capital has experienced since April 1.

It appears that clouds will begin to build in early Wednesday morning.  The clouds should reside in a layer between 3,000 and 5,000 feet above the ground.  This will keep temperatures from plummeting in to the 20°s.  Lows will be in the lower 30°s.

Clouds should continue to reside in the layer between 3,000 and 5,000 feet above the ground Wednesday, turning skies partly sunny.  This will hold temperatures a degree or two cooler than Tuesday.  Highs will be in the upper 40°s.

I am still tracking a warm-up coming for the end of the week in to next week.  This should allow for “shorts weather” this weekend as highs get in to the upper 60°s to lower 70°s.
