Corrections staff seriously injured in assaults at two Lincoln prisons, officials say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A pair of staff members were assaulted by inmates this week at two Lincoln prisons.
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services said the first assault happened Wednesday at the Reception and Treatment Center.
A staff member was in a housing unit when an inmate started punching them in the head, officials said.
The employee suffered a concussion.
Another assault was reported Thursday at the Nebraska State Penitentiary.
An inmate who was suspected of having contraband defied orders and punched multiple staff members, according to officials.
A staff member suffered a concussion during the altercation.
The results of the investigation will be presented to the county attorney, who will decide whether to file criminal charges.
The inmates also could face consequences such as the loss of good time, the department said.
