Friday marked Kevin's last day at Channel 8 as Chief Meteorologist.

Kevin has accepted a position at KLKN's sister station WLNE Television in Providence, Rhode Island.

Coskren came to KLKN Television in 1999 and is well known for his coverage of the Hallam tornado in 2004.   So many people contacted KLKN Television and said Kevin saved their lives on that scary night.   The Banzhaf family also thanked Kevin for saving their lives during a 2001 tornado in Seward County.

Kevin won the Associated Press's Best Weathercast Award for his severe storm coverage in 2004.   He was also honored by the Red Cross during their Tribute to Heroes banquet.

Lancaster County Emergency Management Director Doug Ahlberg stopped by the studios this week and presented Kevin with a certificate of appreciation for his commitment to public safety over the years.

“Informing the public of severe weather threats has always been our station's number one goal,”  Coskren said. “Lincoln has become my second home and the first home for my three children.  It's time for me to return to my roots and be closer to family,” Coskren said.

KLKN Television Meteorologist Luke Dorris will replace Kevin on July 30th.
