LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Council Bluffs woman was sentenced on Wednesday after stealing nearly $17,000 from seven disabled adults.

Beth Yeates, 32, was working as a supervisor in the DUET group homes for developmentally disabled adults in Blair.

She used her personal credit card to place orders for items intended for those adults.

The victims would reimburse Yeates for these purchases.

After they payed her back, Yeates would cancel the order and pocket all the money given to her.

Yeates’ supervisors at DUET uncovered the scheme when they audited the victim’s accounts.

Yeates got 90 days in prison, 5 years of probation, and has to pay back $16,876.31 in restitution.

She was also ordered to write apology letters to all seven victims.
