County fair fever: Southeast Nebraska events have everything from 4-H to sharks

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Fair season is kicking into high gear across southeast Nebraska.

The Lancaster County Super Fair and the York County Fair kicked off Thursday, offering all sorts of entertainment.

Here in Lancaster County, the first few days of the fair are youth-oriented, with 4-H exhibits featuring plants, art food and more.

But there will also be races, BMX stunts, a carnival and an outdoor beer garden.

There was even a cookie-eating contest on Thursday, and you can check out live sharks every day of the fair.

Figure 8 races start at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

The carnival will open at 5 p.m. during the week and at noon on Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday.

The Super Fair goes until Aug. 12.

Over in York County, you can check out livestock shows and a petting zoo.

When you’ve worked up an appetite, a steak fry will be waiting for you starting at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The schedule also includes Bingo, an antique tractor parade and mutton busting.

York County’s fair wraps up on Sunday.
