COVID cases remain steady, nearly 2,800 vaccinated at Wednesday clinic

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) reports 42 new cases of COVID-19. This brings the community total to 29,007.
The death toll remains at 224.

More than 15,700 people have recovered from the virus, with more than 126,000 vaccines administered. Nearly 2,800 residents over the age of 71 got their second shot during Wednesday’s mass vaccination clinic.

The weekly positivity rate will now be calculated differently. LLCHD is now using the same formula as the state, by dividing the number of positive tests by the number of total tests taken. This week’s positivity rate is now 4%.
Seventeen COVID patients are currently hospitalized (13 from Lancaster County). Three patients are on ventilators.
