Creighton Graduate Was Part of Shuttle Crew

A Creighton University Graduate was payload commander on the space shuttle Columbia that lost communication as it was approaching its landing Saturday morning. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Michael Anderson was one of seven crew members on board the shuttle that was returning from a 16 day mission. Anderson, who has logged more than 211 hours in space, earned a Master's of Science Degree in physics from Creighton in 1990.

It was at an altitude of 200,000 feet, traveling at 12,500 miles per hour, when mission control lost contact. there was no further communication and no further tracking data.
