Crete gets $288,000 federal grant for pedestrian bridge

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The City of Crete will receive $288,000 in federal funds to build a pedestrian bridge.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation announced the grant on Tuesday.

The bridge will connect neighborhoods divided by railroads, highways and waterways, according to NDOT.

It will comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The goal is to improve people’s ability to get around the city and to reduce crashes involving pedestrians.

The grant is part of a total of $4.53 million in federal money awarded to transportation projects throughout the state.

Those include $2.4 million for a multimodal path in Norfolk and $640,000 for electric vehicle charging stations in Lincoln.
