Crews battle house fire in southeast Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Crews battled a house fire in southeast Lincoln on Friday.

Just after 6 p.m., Lincoln Fire & Rescue was called to a home near 40th Street and Old Cheney Road.

When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke coming from the back side of the house.

They were able to bring the flames under control within about five minutes, LFR said.

A battalion chief said the fire started outside and spread into the house, damaging the basement and first floor.

The fire caused about $70,000 in damage, according to LFR.

Authorities are still investigating what sparked the blaze.
