One hospitalized after Lincoln apartment fire
Several apartment units evacuated after the blaze was first called in around 11:30 p.m.
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — One person was hospitalized Sunday night after an apartment fire in Lincoln.
The fire started under the porch and was caused by improper disposal of a cigarette, according to Lincoln Fire & Rescue Inspector Jason Relford.
The blaze was reported about 11:30 p.m., and firefighters arrived to find that it had spread fast because of the heavy wind.
The person taken to the hospital was rescued from the second story.
Damage to the building and its contents was estimated at $180,000.
There is fire and water damage throughout the building.
Two people were displaced.
