All residents displaced by fire at apartment building near downtown Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Crews responded to an apartment fire near downtown Lincoln on Saturday.

Just after 5 p.m., several Lincoln Fire & Rescue units were called to an apartment building near 22nd and K streets.

According to Battalion Chief Jeremy Gegg, the fire started on the first floor in the laundry/storage room.

In a video sent to our NOW Local News App by a Channel 8 reporter, you can see crews working to put out the blaze.

Nobody was injured, but the flames caused $150,000 in damage, LFR said.

There is no electricity due to water damage, so everyone in the building was displaced, according to an LFR spokeswoman.

The American Red Cross was helping them find places to stay.

LFR said the cause of the fire is undetermined.

This is a developing story. Check back with Channel 8 for updates.
