Crews respond to fire at East Campus greenhouse

Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews battled a fire at a greenhouse near the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s East Campus. 

The fire broke out 3:25 p.m. Thursday. 

Witnesses reported heavy smoke and flames coming from a greenhouse structure. 

The fire was extinguished within approximately 30 minutes. 

The area was reportedly evacuated and there were no immediate reports of any injuries. 

Inspectors were still working to determine a cause Thursday afternoon.
