Crisp, cool Halloween for those creeping in costumes tonight

Most of southeast Nebraska picking up a lot of rainfall over the past day or so from thunderstorms on Wednesday. Most of those closer to Iowa, Kansas and Missouri picked up well over an inch, if not more.

Rain Dma

While most picked up beneficial rain and dodged the severe weather yesterday, 90 mph winds came through Falls City and left a lot of damage. Below are some of the storm reports from around that area after a bowing segment of thunderstorms swept through just after 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Falls City Damage

Thankfully, that system continues to move north and east away from Nebraska as snow cuts in on the back side for some in Minnesota.

We won’t be as cold as last year this Halloween! Highs will be in the middle and upper 50s thanks to a northwesterly breeze today.

Halloween Vertical

Tonight, trick-or-treaters creeping in costume will encounter cooling temperatures in the 40s by the evening hours. Northwest winds will drop to around 5-15 mph after sundown.

Halloween Night

Beyond Halloween night, we will be heading into November on Friday. Temperatures warm slightly, with sunshine for another dry day until that changes this weekend.

Next 2 Days

There are a lot more opportunities for rain as storms become likely Saturday and into early next week. Rain chances increase by Saturday afternoon, with rain likely overnight and into Sunday for most of that day as well.

Weekend

These two days we’ll be looking into more as we get closer to the weekend, but it appears severe weather may be possible with storms on Sunday.

Spc Day 4

South-central Nebraska has already been highlighted for possible severe weather by the Storm Prediction Center. This risk was updated early Thursday morning, but it’s notable four days out from that event. Keep checking in with us for more in the coming days.
