Dad tells son to come home after chase with Grand Island officer, police say

Police Lights

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Grand Island teen fled from police, but he couldn’t run from his father.

Around 7:50 p.m. Saturday, an officer saw a vehicle drive through a red light and go 25 mph over the speed limit,” Grand Island Police said.

The officer tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver – a 17-year-old boy – turned around and drove into oncoming traffic, according to police.

Eventually, the officer stopped chasing the teen and went to the home where the car was registered.

Officers spoke with the owner, who told his son to come home with the vehicle, police said.

The teen followed his father’s orders, and he was cited on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest, a stop light violation and speeding.
