Dangerous heat and gusty winds arrive Friday
An EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH is in place for most of eastern Nebraska starting Friday and going through Sunday evening. Feel like temperatures will be near 110 degrees. Make sure to drink plenty of water, limit your time outside and check on relatives who are sensitive to the heat.
A HEAT ADVISORY is in place for parts of west central Nebraska starting Friday and going through Saturday night. Feel like temperatures near 105 degrees.
Factoring in the humidity, the coming days really look like summer time across the state!
South- southwest winds will be gusting to around 25-45 mph throughout the next 5 days. The strongest winds will occur Friday- Sunday.
Thursday, a MARGINAL risk for severe weather is in place. A few isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms could develop and produce quarter size hail and 60 mph winds.
Here is a look at the potential for thunderstorm development out west Thursday evening.
Tonight, temperatures will be a few degrees cooler, due to clear skies overhead. Everyone in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
Thursday, high temperatures will reach the upper 80s and lower 90s under sunny skies.
Through this weekend, temperatures will reach the upper 90s and lower triple digits. Heat indices will reach near 110 degrees in some areas on Friday through Sunday. Make sure to limit your time outside the next several days as this heat is dangerous if not taken seriously. Next week, rain and storm chances return and so do the cooler temperatures.
