Dangerous high winds, wildfire conditions Wednesday across Nebraska
Blustery winds are going to be extreme throughout Wednesday, but namely in the late morning and afternoon hours.
For Lincoln, a breakdown of some of the peak northwest winds looking ahead in the day can be found below.
Across Nebraska, northern Nebraska will face potential wind gusts as high as 60 mph.
Where wind gusts will peak closer to 50 mph today, there is a Wind Advisory in effect. Where wind gusts will peak closer to 60 mph today, there is a High Wind Warning.
If traveling on the interstates or in more open areas, be cautious when in the vehicle and mindful of high-profile vehicles driving in these conditions.
These strong northwest winds will work with dry air and vegetation to pose dangerous wildfire conditions this afternoon and evening. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for most of the state.
Be sure to secure any outdoor items and avoid actions that may lead to starting a fire.
There will be a rather chilly feel to cooler temperatures in the coming days from the wind.
Count on most of Wednesday feeling like the 20s in the morning, 30s in the afternoon. Winds will back off on Thursday, but we’re in for another breezy day.
