Deer crashes through Cooper YMCA in Lincoln

Wednesday evening as people were exercising at the Cooper YMCA, they heard a loud bang.

When the lifters looked around, they saw a deer running loose through the weight room. 

“I thought somebody dropped a weight or something like that, and I looked over, and there’s a deer that ran into a mirror. It was kicking and there was blood, and everyone was freaking out,” Ohitika Lawhun, a witness at the YMCA, said. 

“It kind of happened out of no where. You see a deer, and then there’s blood, and then it kind of laid there for a couple of seconds, and then it got up and tried to run, and then fell down again,” Grant Brown, another witness at the YMCA, said. 

People were quickly rushed out of the room to safety.

The Cooper YMCA is in southeast Lincoln near 14th and Old Cheney. 

People said they saw a dog chasing the deer, and that’s why it ran through the window and into the weight room. 

Nobody was injured, and no word on how much damaged was caused. 

Unfortunately, the deer did not make it. Animal Control came to pick it up.
