Defective taillight leads to high-speed chase through Grand Island

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities say a driver almost hit several other vehicles while trying to outrun them on busy Nebraska roads.

This all started on Wednesday, just before 10 p.m., according to the Grand Island Police Department.

Officers said Delvin Jones was driving around with a defective taillight, so they tried to stop him near Sherman Boulevard and State Street.

But Jones is accused of speeding off into heavy traffic while blowing through stop signs and a red light.

Police said he “showed a wanton disregard for public safety.”

GIPD ended its pursuit.

Records show that Jones has several active warrants in Hall County and his that his driver’s license is suspended.

Now he’s also wanted on suspicion of flight to avoid arrest.
