Delightful Tuesday with light wind in Nebraska
Another morning that starts with temperatures dropping around freezing on Tuesday. Overall, winds will be light to start the day and looking ahead at the rest of the afternoon.
Similar temperatures to what we experienced on Monday are expected for today. The difference will be felt more in northern Nebraska as they have less clouds today, seeing temperatures jump by about 5-10 degrees. A seasonal spring day expected across the board for the state. Highs in Lincoln will be nearing the 70-degree mark.
We’re mostly dry throughout the remainder of the week. Temperatures will be around 70 for a few more days, with Thursday being the exception. A northwest wind shift will promote cooler temperatures in the lower 60s. Average highs right now are in the lower 60s.
For the next several days, the only chance at the tiniest bit of moisture will come from a very spotty chance Wednesday afternoon and evening.
We will stay quiet for a while due to a lot of energy being pulled south with storms and severe threats for the next several days in the Southeast region. Just with today’s (Tuesday) risk, there are several tornadoes, significant large hail and damaging winds possible through parts of eastern Texas and Louisiana.
Back here at home, Stormcast below provides a glimpse into potential wind gusts on Thursday as the next bigger weather impact of this week.
As we’ve seen across western Nebraska and toward the Tri-Cities even this morning, we can still get temperatures below freezing at this time of the year. That potential will exist for at least a few more weeks until the end of April for eastern Nebraska.
With the temperature swings that the higher elevations experience out toward the Sandhills, they can see temperatures below freezing through about the first couple weeks of May.
