Developer named for future Lincoln Convention Center
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Officials announced the developer for the future Lincoln Convention Center on Thursday.
Assemble Lincoln, the group in charge of the project, said it’s partnered with a company called Legends.
A Legends official said she has already been part of two other major projects in Lincoln: the Pinnacle Bank Arena and the West Haymarket redevelopment.
“I am truly excited to be back, “said Paula Portz, chief operating officer of project development with Legends. “I missed the city. I missed working here. I missed the people that I worked with, and I’m overly joyed to be here to see this project and the next phases of the site selection.”
An agreement with Legends was approved by the Lancaster County Board at its meeting on Dec. 1.
Developers said they will now focus on identifying the site for the convention center. They said they’re looking at four spaces right now.
“As identified in our Vitality Lincoln strategic plan, Lincoln’s future will be greatly shaped by a downtown convention center as it serves as a pillar for our community’s sustained success,” said Jason Ball, president of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.
