Locals donate to the Walmart Diaper Drives in Lincoln

Locals donated at all four Walmart locations today all for the third annual Walmart Diaper Drive.
One underlying issue in Lincoln is that many mothers need baby wipes and diapers.
Walmart is working with the Lincoln–Lancaster County Health Department to make sure families have those toiletries this winter.
A mother of three with one on the way, took time to donate towards the cause.
Micayla Lewis says she knows what it is like to need things for her own children.
“Just like buying for at least two in the house all the time, I know how that can add up and so we do diaper drives at church and everything.,” said Lewis. “We’re always happy to help in that way because its something we all need. So, it’s easy to pick up another pack of wipes or diapers and give back.”
Walmart officials hope to collect over fifty thousand individual diapers, to beat their first year’s record.
Co– manager Jessica Aguayo says when community leaders made the problem known three years ago, they were happy to help.
“The WIC organization needs diapers and wipes of all sizes to help support families in need,” said Aguayo. “My favorite part is being able to see all of the customers come in and support this great thing we’re trying to do, so thank you guys.”
Aguayo adds that the ultimate goal would be to receive enough supplies to stuff the Star Tran buses.
“Any family in need they take, them to home visits to children that wear diapers,” said Aguayo. “People that are involved in the WIC program can go to the WIC office and pick up diapers and wipes as well.”
All donations go to and will be dispersed to participants in WIC and the Healthy Families America program.
