District of Nebraska collects over $4 million in criminal and civil debts
The Department of Justice says they collected $3,036,552.37 in criminal actions and $1,806,390.41 from civil actions.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The District of Nebraska has collected a total of $4,482,942.78 in criminal and civil actions for the 2021 fiscal year.
The Department of Justice says they collected $3,036,552.37 in criminal actions and $1,806,390.41 from civil actions. Along with other U.S. Attorney’s Offices and the DOJ, Nebraska collected an additional $621,609.85 in cases pursued jointly.
The U.S. Attorney’s Offices enforce the collection of civil and criminal debts owed to the U.S. and criminal debts owed to the victims.
Defendants must pay restitution to victims of certain federal crimes who have suffered a physical injury or financial loss. The criminal fines and felony assessments go towards the department’s Crime Victims Fund.
