Dollar Tree rolling out drastic measures to combat escalating crimes

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Dollar Tree says it’s planning to take drastic measures in the coming months to combat theft.
This comes after its CEO blamed a large drop in profit on “shrink,” according to CNN.
The term covers losses due to theft, damage and other causes.
Some of the measures include moving items behind the check stand and locking others up.
Products will even be discontinued altogether at certain stores.
CNN reported that retailers of all sizes are struggling to contain escalating crimes that range from petty shoplifting to organized sprees.
Earlier this year, Target announced that it was bracing to lose half a billion dollars due to rising theft.
But Walgreens recently said the problem is being overhyped.
