‘He means so much to me’: Lincoln woman reunited with stolen pet rabbit

A Lincoln woman is holding her pet giant rabbit a little closer, after the animal was reportedly stolen from – and then returned to – her neighborhood.
Darcy Brown got a call from her daughter Monday saying that the cage that houses the rabbit, Argus, was open and that he was missing.
Brown said she searched up and down her neighborhood to no avail, and eventually reported Argus as stolen to Lincoln police.
Argus, an orange Continental Giant Rabbit, is valued at approximately $450. Brown said he was a birthday gift from her daughter.
Police said there was a surveillance camera pointed at the cage, but it was blocked by a vehicle which made it impossible to tell how Argus got out.
Brown said at one point she was looking through a neighbor’s bushes when the neighbor asked what she was doing. She explained she was searching for Argus and went on her way.
About 30 minutes later, Brown says, the neighbor came running to her house saying he had seen Argus sitting by his front door.
Brown said she thinks Argus started biting whoever took him, and that the apparent thief dropped him somewhere on the block. She doesn’t know who it was, she’s just glad to see him returned home and in good health. She’s also arranged a more secure place for him to stay,
“I’m very grateful he is back,” she said. “He means so much to me.”
