Don’t blow it: Rules for lighting Fourth of July fireworks in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – As the Fourth of July approaches, the City of Lincoln has some rules for anyone looking to light off fireworks.

Under the city’s municipal code, fireworks can only be set off between the hours of 8 a.m. and 11 p.m. on July 3 and 8 a.m. to midnight on the Fourth.

If you’re picking up fireworks at one of the local tents, you must be over 18.

Anyone under 18 also cannot light any fireworks or explosives.

You, of course, can’t launch fireworks at other people or vehicles, or on any person’s property without their permission.

And it’s also unlawful to discharge or launch any explosives onto streets, highways or sidewalks.

Skyrockets, bottle rockets, and sky lanterns are also not allowed to be sold or set off in Lincoln.
