Don’t get used to the warmer air yet; Cooler air is around the corner
What a fantastic start to the work week, excluding the wind. Sunny skies and temperatures topping out in the upper 70°s and lower 80°s in southeast Nebraska. Hebron made it to 81° Monday while Lincoln topped out at 79°. It is the warmest day in Lincoln since November 4, 2020 – nearly five months ago.
Temperatures will be warm as many go to bed Monday night, but don’t get suckered in to leaving your windows open. A cold front is going to pass through Nebraska tonight. Behind it, cooler air will begin to filter in to the state. Winds will continue to gust to 40 mph – even higher just behind the front – overnight. Temperatures will drop to the middle 30°s to lower 40°s by morning. High temperatures Tuesday will be approximately 25° cooler than Monday.
TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and windy. Lows in the middle 30°s to low 40°s.
TUESDAY: Sunshine early. Turning partly sunny and cooler. Highs will be in the upper 40°s to middle 50°s.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny. Morning lows in the 20°s. Afternoon highs in the upper 40°s to lower 50°s.
