COVID-19 vaccination clinic available for 5 to 11-year-olds

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – During a press conference with Bryan Health today, pediatrician Dr. Sian Jones-Jobst, expressed the importance of COVID-19 vaccines in the 5 to 11-year-old age group.
“There have been ninety-four deaths in the 5 to 11-year-old age group since the pandemic started, those are kids, those are kids 5 to 11. When people tell me, ‘well not that many kids die of covid,’ those are ninety-four children that died of covid that would be with us today if it wasn’t for COVID-19.” said Dr. Sian Jones-Jobst.
Following the CDC advisory panel’s recommendation to vaccinate children in the 5-11 age group, state health departments have begun rolling out vaccination plans.
According to the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department, vaccination registration for this age group has opened; parents and guardians are encouraged to sign up at COVID19.lincoln.ne.gov. The dose for the 5-11 age group is currently limited and does require an appointment for vaccination.
A vaccination clinic for the age group is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 6th, at Lincoln High School, 2229 “J” Street, by appointment only. Those who have previously registered their children are currently being contacted to schedule appointment times for this Saturday’s clinic. According to Bryan Health, they are working with the local health department to hold a private clinic at select Bryan Health facilities for their patients in the 5-11 age group.
