Driver in critical condition after rollover crash south of Bennet

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A driver was in critical condition Sunday night after a single-vehicle rollover crash just south of Bennet.

Just before 7 p.m., first responders were called to the intersection of 162nd Street and Hickman Road, 4 miles south of Bennet.

Authorities think the driver was headed north on 162nd Street when they left the road, reentered and then rolled into a ditch, hitting a power pole.

Sgt. Scott Gaston with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said the driver, the lone occupant, was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver wasn’t wearing a seat belt, Gaston said.

According to Gaston, Bennet Fire and Rescue took the driver to a hospital in critical condition.

A Channel 8 reporter at the scene said there were skid marks on the street leading to the ditch where the car rolled.

Westbound Hickman Road was closed while crews cleaned up the crash.

This is a developing story. Check back with Channel 8 for updates.
