Driver left after hitting 9-year-old girl riding scooter in Grand Island, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman was arrested Tuesday after a hit-and-run crash involving a 9-year-old girl in Grand Island, police say.

The crash happened around 3:10 p.m. near East Seventh Street and Congdon Avenue.

A 9-year-old girl was hit by a vehicle while riding her scooter in the neighborhood, police said.

The driver, Jordon Miller, didn’t stop after hitting the girl, who suffered serious injuries, according to police.

Officers later found Miller’s vehicle parked in a field behind a house and concealed between other cars.

The vehicle had front-end damage, matching the color of the girl’s scooter, police said.

The owner of that vehicle identified Miller as the driver.  Miller had parked the vehicle at the home before taking another car to the store.

Officers later found Miller and took her into custody.  She had been drinking alcohol before the crash, according to police.

She was arrested on suspicion of tampering with physical evidence and failing to stop and render aid.
