Driver of pickup that hit Seward day care has died
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The man who crashed into a Seward day care during a medical emergency has died, police said Tuesday.
Stanley Roebke, 76, of Seward died Monday.
On Friday, Roebke was behind the wheel of a pickup truck when he had a medical episode, according to Seward Police Chief Brian Peters.
The pickup hit a light pole, two fire hydrants and another vehicle before slamming into St. John Child Development Center, across the street from Concordia University.
Eight children were sleeping in the room where the pickup hit, but none of them were injured.
A staff member suffered minor injuries, as did Roebke’s passenger and the driver of the other vehicle.
First responders performed CPR on Roebke before he was taken to Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln.
It’s not clear whether his death was caused by the initial medical condition or the injuries he suffered in the crash.
