Driver pursued by authorities in high-speed chase found dead in western Nebraska crash

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in western Nebraska on Monday.
Just after midnight, the state patrol was told about a car that had fled a pursuit with deputies in central Nebraska several hours earlier.
The vehicle, a Lexus GS, was believed to be in western Nebraska, according to the state patrol.
Just before 12:15 a.m., a trooper saw the Lexus traveling 95 mph on Interstate 80 near Big Springs.
The trooper tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused to stop and sped off.
According to the state patrol, the trooper chased the car for around five minutes before stopping the chase as the driver exited I-80 and drove across the Colorado border on Interstate I-76.
Authorities said the vehicle was traveling more than 140 mph.
Several minutes later, the trooper saw a crash just off I-80 near the Highway 138 interchange.
According to the state patrol, the trooper found the Lexus about 75 yards away from I-80 in a field and found the driver dead. The driver had been ejected from the vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation.
